Xiaomi Mi Notebook’s Unibody Design And Price Reportedly Leak Ahead of Schedule
Xiaomi is working on a rather interesting laptop that, according to some leaked photos and slides, looks like a thin and light professional machine with gaming chops. And just like Xiaomi has a history of doing in the smartphone sector, its forthcoming notebook will offer an impressive amount of hardware and features for the price.
The folks at GizmoChina managed to wrangle a few real-life photos of Xiaomi's unreleased Mi Notebook, including a side view that shows a unibody design and overall aesthetic that's similar to a MacBook. There's a full-size USB port visible in the photo, presumably USB 3.0 or USB 3.1, along with a USB Type-C port for charging the laptop. Have a look:

Based on previous leaks, there will be two versions of the Mi Notebook, both reasonably equipped. The standard model will cost 3999 Yuan (around $600 in U.S. currency) and include the following:
- Intel Core i5-6200U processor
- 8GB DDR4 RAM
- 256GB solid state drive
- Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor
- 16GB DDR4 RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 memory
- 512GB solid state drive
As Xiaomi points out in a previously leaked slide, the Mi Notebook Pro brings more bang for your buck than several competing systems. It's worth pointing out that we recently reviewed an ASUS ROG Strix GL502VT-DS74 laptop with similar specs—Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 16GB DDR4 RAM, GTX 970M with 6GB of GDDR5 memory, and 128GB SSD—for $1,599. While the Mi Notebook Pro has less video RAM (4GB instead of 6GB), that shouldn't be much of an issue at 1080p.
Xiaomi is expected to launch the Mi Notebook later this week in China. Hopefully it will also announce a release date for the U.S. market.
