WB Games Suspends Sales Of Batman: Arkham Knight After Train Wreck Of User Performance Issues

If your computer meets the system requirements for a video game, you can reasonably expect that it will run smoothly at the proper settings. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case for scores of PC gamers who purchased the much anticipated Batman: Arkham Knight title. Following a rash of complaints over performance issues and graphical glitches, publisher WB Games has suspended further sales of the title until developer Rocksteady Studios can iron out the wrinkles.

"We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards," WB Games said. "We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall."

The publisher is asking for gamers' collective patience while it cleans up the code and rids Gotham of the performance hampering bugs that run amok. If you're run out of patience, you can request a refund through Steam or the retail location where your purchased the title. That's assuming you bought the game -- digital codes for Batman: Arkham Knight were also bundled with quite a few graphics cards.

Batman: Arkham Knight released to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One two days ago. While console gamers have been enjoying the fourth and final installment in the Arkham series, it's been quite a different story on the PC. In addition to dropped framerates that in some cases have made the game unplayable, gamers have also complained for low quality textures and various glitches.

It isn't just a case of inadequate hardware, either. Well equipped systems running WHQL drivers from NVIDIA and the latest beta drivers from AMD, both tuned for Batman: Arkham Knight, have struggled to maintain a playable and enjoyable experience.

WB Games deserves criticism for releasing the game in to PC players in its current state, and kudos for yanking the title so that the developers can clean up the code.
