Open Space Adventure Game No Man's Sky Finally Goes Gold After 4 Years In Development

It's been quite the two months for the No Man's Sky developer team. A couple of months ago, we reported that the game would be suffering yet another delay; news that didn't sit well with everyone who has been waiting 'forever' for the game. Weeks later, Hello Games settled an absurd dispute with Sky TV, allowing the company to continue using the No Man's Sky name it has promoted for the past five years.

Now comes some great news: No Man's Sky has reached gold status, and as you might be able to tell from the shot above, the development team could not be happier. After all it's been through, that simple burned disc probably brings an unbelievable amount of relief and a great sense of accomplishment.

When Hello Games had to suck it up and admit that the game was delayed again in May, many wondered if it was a sign that the game would be launching with PlayStation VR support. We can pretty confidentially say right now that that's not likely the case, as there hasn't been any notable chatter about it since. Given the design of the game, though, it would make for an incredible VR title.

No Man's Sky is now going to become available on August 9 in North America and August 10 in Europe. For PlayStation 4 gamers, the title can be purchased digitally through the PSN store, or picked up on disc at retail. For PC gamers, you can purchase the game at Steam, GOG.com, Humble, or through iam8bit, which offers the exclusive 'Explorer's Edition'. What about Xbox? There have been no announcements made thus far, but we'd hope that Xbox gamers will be able to enjoy this game at some point.
