HBO Go Now Available On Xbox One

Microsoft’s Xbox One may be behind Sony’s PlayStation 4 in terms of sales, but that hasn’t stopped the company from trying to catch up. Microsoft has reduced the console’s price and, starting today, HBO Go is now available for Xbox One users in the US.

Release of HBO Go app’s makes Xbox One the first system, of the current generation, to make it available for gamers. Xbox One owners will now be able to stream all of HBO’s shows such as Game of Thrones, The Newsroom, and Boardwalk Empire so long as they have an HBO subscription. The app also features Kinect voice and gesture controls for those who own Microsoft’s motion-sensing camera.

New HBO go

“Xbox is one of our subscribers’ favorite ways to access HBO Go and its incredible breadth of award-winning programming,” said HBO Vice President of Digital Domestic Network Distribution Jeff Dallesandro. “Now, Xbox One users can get in on the action and Kinect with the very best HBO series and films on this innovative, state-of-the-art device.”

For now, Xbox One users will need to have a subscription to a cable or satellite TV service to make use of HBO Go. However, back in October, HBO announced that it will be launching as a stand-alone service sometime next year in the US.

HBO GO will also be coming to the PlayStation 4 but no information has been provided as to when that will happen.
