Battlefield 1 Beta Becomes EA’s Biggest Beta In History, Drawing 13.2 Million Players
The back to basics approach has paid off, as DICE says that the Battlefield 1 beta was the “biggest beta in EA’s history”. A number of impressive stats were tossed out via an infographic including that over 13.2 million gamers took part in the beta. The most popular class during the beta was Assault, followed closely by Scout. If you found yourself in need of a medic, and cursed the screen when none came to your aid, you can blame the 10 percent take rate for the Medic class.
Nearly 30 million melee kills were recorded, with Tank Hunters racking up the bulk of those kills. Some of the more interesting statistics include nearly 24 million “road kills” and over 62 million kills by players on horseback. Nothing is more embarrassing than taking a sword to the back of the neck while surveying your next target.
“I want to personally thank you all for the great feedback you've given us,” said Battlefield 1 senior producer Aleks Grondal. “We're trawling through forum posts, social media mentions, and digging into some great data. We're identifying what worked well, and what didn’t work as well. We truly value your input.”
Grondal continues, adding that all of the valuable feedback received during the beta will be infused into the full version of the game. All of the tweaks and fixes might not make it to the version of the game shipping to customers, but rest assured that an expected flood of patches will make things right in the coming months. Grondal specifically pointed to the Light Tank, which he says “performed a little too well”.
Battlefield 1 will be available on October 13th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC
