Toshiba Announces Speedy Exceria SDXC and SDHC Cards, No Word on Price

Toshiba is launching a new line of SDXC and SDHC memory cards under the “Exceria” moniker that are designed to be the best in the business. The name, in fact, is a spin on the words “excellence” and “ experience”; in other words, Toshiba is stating that it has the track record and chops to deliver a top of the line solution with these new cards.

Compliant with the UHS-I2 standard, the cards should hit UHS and SD speed classes of 15 and 106 and will come in three series: Type 1, Type 2, and Type HD. Type 1 cards will have maximum read/write speeds of 95MB/s and 90MB/s and come in capacities of 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB; Type 2 will have 95MB/s and 60MB/s and 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB; and Type HD will hit 90MB/s and 30MB/sec in capacities of 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB.

The HD series will be available in May, with Type 1 coming in July, followed by Type 2 in August. What these memory cards will cost remains a mystery.
