The Manhunt 2 Drama Continues

One of the most significant blows dealt to Rockstar's Manhunt 2 came when the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) banned the sale of the game in the UK.  Now Rockstar is appealing that decision, but it’s not known whether or not they’re offering to change the game to get a new rating, or if they’re simply using a new argument.

Yesterday Rockstar made its plea to the Video Appeals Committe (VAC) - which has the power to overrule the BBFC - although it's not known on what grounds the developer is basing its defence. Manhunt 2 was refused classification because of its "unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone... which constantly encourages visceral killing with exceptionally little alleviation or distancing".

Even if the BBFC does reverse its decision, the game is still rating Adult Only by the ESRB in the states, and console vendors such as Nintendo and Sony have taken strong stances against allowing AO rated titles to be published for their systems.
