The App Store Passes One Billion Downloads
Move over, McDonald's; Apple is gaining on you! On Thursday, the App Store reached one billion downloads. Apple thanked we consumers for the downloads, and now we're on to the next billion, right?
Palm can only hope that its upcoming App Catalog will be even slightly as successful. The fact that the Palm Pre will be exclusive to Sprint for quite some time is a negative, as is the CDMA technology behind the Pre.
You have to bet that Palm has a GSM version in the works, though.
About that promotional contest? Remember that Apple was running a promotional contest that will pay off with a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule, and a MacBook Pro to some lucky winner who either downloaded an app or entered via their web site.
