Super Talent Taps TeraDrive SSD with 2nd Generation SandForce Chip
Sporting SandForce's SF-2200 controller, the upgraded TeraDrive features a SATA 6Gb/s interface and much faster read and write speeds. Super Talent hasn't disclosed exact numbers yet, but from what we know of SandForce's 2nd generation controller, expect to see both hover around the 500MB/s mark, or about double what today's SSDs are capable of.
Look for the new drives to ship in the second quarter of 2011 with pricing yet to be announced.

DDR NAND drives need for SATA III Interface

At 3 Gbps, the SATA 2 interface posed a bottleneck to existing SSD designs but little performance was to be gained by changing to SATA3. That just changed. As double data rate (DDR) NAND becomes available, SSD performance stands to double overnight. Since the new 2nd generation SandForce controllers support both SATA3 and DDR flash, we are now able to unleash the performance of these new designs.
