Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 And Galaxy Player 4.2 Shipping This Weekend

Samsung's 17" Series 7 Chronos isn't the only product in the company's stable shipping this week. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (what a mouthful!) and the Galaxy Player 4.2 will be available for purchase nationwide (that's the USA) this weekend. Starting on May 13th, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will be available for $399.99 and the media player for $199.99; both of which will ship alongside the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and Galaxy Player 3.6, smaller versions of the same products. Retailers carrying the devices include Amazon, Best Buy, hhgregg, Tiger Direct, WalMart, Office Depot and others.

The Tab 2 10.1 isn't apt to make the same impact as the original, but it's still probably seen as one of the better Android slates on the market. Android 4.0 is included, as is a dual-core CPU, a microSD card slot and access to the Android Market. As for the Player 4.2? Looks a lot like the Galaxy S II, but with no phone capabilities outside of VoIP options (Skype, etc.).

Here's the real question: do either of these stand a chance at making a dent in the markets of the iPad and iPod touch?
