Samsung Confirms: Galaxy Tab 10.1 Coming June 8
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Tab 10.1-inch tablet will go on sale on June 8 for a starting price of $499 for the 16GB model. However, even though the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available starting on June 8, it will only be available at Union Square in New York. For the rest of us, we'll have to wait until June 17 to get our hands on the tablet.
Samsung plans to ship the tablet with Android 3.1. Other key features include a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 800. The tablet weighs about 1.25 pounds. Samsung has also said that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will receive a series of over-the-air upgrades sometime after launch that will make the device more powerful, entertaining and secure.
A 32GB version will also be available for $599. Verizon Wireless will also offer 16GB and 32GB versions of the tablet. These tablets will be tied to the carrier's 4G network. With a two-year contract, you'll be able to pick up the Verizon Wireless 16GB tablet for $529.99 or the 32GB variant for $629.99. Verizon Wireless will let customers pre order the Galaxy Tab 10.1 starting June 8.
