Razer Edge Gaming Tablet Now Available to Pre-Order
Pre-orders are now open for the Razer Edge and Edge Pro, a pair of powerful Windows 8 tablets designed specifically for gaming (see our hands-on demo). They're a bit pricey, with the Razer Edge starting at $1,000 and the Razer Edge Pro commanding $1,300, plus extra for accessories like a Gamepad Controller ($250) and Docking Station ($100). What you get in return, however, is essentially a full-fledged notebook in a tablet form factor.
The Rader Edge features a 10.1-inch IPS multi-touch display with a 1366x768 resolution, Intel Core i5 dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz (up to 2.6GHz via Turbo), 4GB of DDR3-1600 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE graphics with 1GB of DDR3 memory, 64GB solid state drive (SATA 6Gbps), built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, 2MP front-facing webcam, stereo speakers, and a USB 3.0 port.
For $300 more, the Razer Edge Pro upgrades the processor to an Intel Core i7 dual-core chip clocked at 1.9GHz (3GHz via Turbo), doubles the amount of RAM to 8GB, and bumps up the storage to 128GB; for additional $150, you can upgrade to 256GB.
Planning on picking one up? If so, you may want to place your pre-order sooner than later. It's unknown how much inventory Razer has set aside, but when its Blade was first made available, it was often out of stock.
