PopCap Inks Deal with Amazon to Ship Android Games, Score Plants vs Zombies for Free!

PopCap Games, makers of the highly popular (and super fun) Plants vs Zombies defense game, just signed an agreement with Amazon to offer its first Android games to the U.S. market, exclusively on the Amazon Appstore for Android during two different two-week periods. Pay attention and you can score both Chuzzle and PvZ for free.

Part of the deal includes serving up Chuzzle starting tomorrow and extending to May 30. Later this month, Plants vs Zombie will appear. Both titles will be free for the first day of availability, and after that will carry a $2.99 price tag.

"Our relationship with Amazon is pivotal to PopCap's overall strategy in bringing a growing roster of mobile titles to the ever-widening base of smartphone users," noted Giordano Bruno Contestabile, PopCap's senior director of global product and business strategy for mobile. "By making these titles available on the Android platform, we'll significantly extend the reach of our top franchises to legions of new mobile customers and gaming fans alike."

If you've never played Plants vs Zombies before, this is your chance to see what all the fuss about, and who can complain about free? The only catch is you have to remember to check the Amazon Appstore everyday until it shows up.
