Nikon Unveils Four New COOLPIX Cameras; S1000pj Gets Official

Well that certainly didn’t take long. Yesterday, we told you about a new Nikon camera / projector combo known as the COOLPIX S1000pj. Today, Nikon made this camera official and announced three others, one of which that has a new touch-screen interface.

All of the new cameras incorporate Nikon’s EXPEED digital image processing concept. They also feature an enhancement to Nikon’s Smart Portrait System with a new Skin Softening feature, Vibration Reduction (VR) Image Stabilization, and Scene Auto Selector. COOLPIX S70

Starting things off, we’ve got the COOLPIX S70, a 12.1 megapixel model that builds on the success of Nikon’s previous generation touchscreen cameras with new touch-screen controls and a 3.5-inch Clear Color Display with OLED technology. Thanks to this camera’s capacitive touchscreen, you can use the Touch Shutter feature and enjoy a button-free experience. You’ll also be able to edit photos, scroll through images, and zoom in and out of an image using touch controls.

The COOLPIX S70 offers a 5x wide-angle Zoom-NIKKOR lens, ISO 6400, 5-way VR Image Stabilization System, and Subject Tracking. In addition to still photos, the COOLPIX S70 can capture HD video at 1280 x 720 pixels (720p). The COOLPIX S70 will be available in September for $399.95. Color options include Red & Red, Champagne & Beige, Black & Black, or Champagne & Light Brown.



COOLPIX S1000pj

As the rumors suggested, the COOLPIX S1000pj has a built-in projector that can project images and videos as large as 40 inches. The camera also has a slideshow function, playback pictures with music option, and effects and creative transitions to help you show off your images.

This 12.1 megapixel camera has a 5x wide-angle Zoom-NIKKOR glass lens, a 2.7-inch wide-angle LCD, and an ISO range from 64-6400. The COOLPIX S1000pj will come in Matte Black in September for $429.95.



COOLPIX S640

As the performance leader in the S-Series lineup, the new COOLPIX S640 features ultra-fast auto-focus, the fastest start up time in its class (0.7 seconds), and short shutter release time lag. Additional features include an all metal body, 12.2 megapixel sensor, 5x wide angle NIKKOR lens, ISO from 100-6400 at full resolution, 2.7-inch Clear Color LCD, 4-way VR Image Stabilization System, Subject Tracking, and movie mode. The COOLPIX S640 will be available in September 2009 for $249.95. It will be offered in Calm Black, Velour Red, Precious Pink, and Pearl White.



COOLPIX S570

Last, but not least, we’ve got the new COOLPIX S570 which targets entry-level consumers. This 12 megapixel camera offers a 5x wide-angle Zoom-NIKKOR glass lens, ISO 3200 at full resolution, a 2.7-inch LCD, 4-way VR Image Stabilization System, and a movie mode. The COOLPIX S570 will be available in September for $199.95 in Black, Red, Blue, and Pink.
