MSI Introduces 12" AMD-Powered Wind12 U250 Netbook

MSI has been rolling out new notebooks at quite the rapid pace lately, and the latest is a new netbook. But not just an average netbook--this is one of the largest netbooks on the market, which may satisfy those who were looking to split the difference between a typical netbook and an ultraportable.

12" netbooks aren't completely unheard of, but they aren't nearly as common as 10" netbooks. But MSI's Wind line is expanding with a new 12" model, the Wind12 U250. Boasting an ultrathin profile and the "Nile" platform, this AMD-powered machine has a dual-core Athlon II Neo (Geneva) processor, a 12.1" panel, support for up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, a 1366x768 native resolution, 4-in-1 card reader, HDMI/VGA outputs, three USB 2.0 ports, audio in/out, a 3/6-cell battery, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a 1.3MP webcam and two speakers.

MSI also ships this machine with its own Ergonomic De-Stress) keyboard with keys that are 51% larger in area compared to other netbooks, and it's designed to run for around 5.5 hours on a single charge. Finally, the Cobra Gray color film print is engineered to both protect against scratches and wear. As nice as the package sounds, no details are being shared when it comes to a price or ship date.

Broaden your mobile computing horizons

Taipei—MSI has officially rolled out this year’s 12.1-inch masterpiece—the Wind12 U250 which boasts under the hood the most advanced mobile computing architecture on the market. It features AMD 2010 ultrathin platform – "Nile" with AMD Athlon II Neo duo core (Geneva) processor which supports DDR3 memory.

MSI Marketing Director Sam Chern explained that continuing in the tradition of the Wind12 U series, the U250 is highly mobile like netbooks, but comes with a 12.1" screen to “broaden your horizons” and thin, power-saving duo core architecture, so it performs on par with conventional laptops. The cover and the areas in front of the keyboard of the stylishly high tech Wind12 U250 feature MSI’s own lustrous Cobra Gray color film print to both protect against scratches and wear.
