Motherboards, Memory, Video, Cooling - You Name It

Good morning folks!  How is everyone doing today?  I take it your week started out well? :)  Mine is going pretty good.  I've been taking a ton of pictures to prepare for a few upcoming reviews, did a little benchmarking, and did a some modding.  I also found the time to finish reading "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown over the last month.  If you haven't already done so, and you'd like a good murder mystery, you might want to check that book out.  Just be prepared for a little church bashing, and know that this is a work of fiction!  (So no hate mail!)  After reading it, I did a little research and was surprised by the debate going on over this book - wild stuff.  And I thought PC enthusiasts were an opinionated bunch...

Albatron K8X800 ProII motherboard review @ Ocprices:

"Here at Ocprices, we've looked at several of Albatron's Pentium 4 motherboards, and were always impressed with their generous bundles, solid build quality, impressive feature content, and strong overclockability. The K8X800 Pro and ProII (which is the subject of this review) are Albatron's first entry into the K8T800 Athlon64 market. Can Albatron repeat their past successes with their Athlon64 boards?"

Scythe Kamikaze SCKM-1000 @ ASE Labs:

"The other thing that caught my attention was that the fan sucked air from the heatsink instead of blowing on it. In my experience, most heatsinks do better when the air is force into the heatsink than sucked from it. This heatsink proved no different, I had to switch the fan to blow on it to make the cooling better (in my case anyway)."

 Gigabyte GV-NX57128D PCI-E Videocard Review @ PCStats:

"The Gigabyte GV-NX57128D video card is a PCI Express x16 solution that is based on the GeForcePCX 5750 GPU. The blue-PCB card is backed up by 128MB of TSOP-II 3.6ns Samsung DRAM, and it supports S-Video out, DVI and analog connections. The card doesn't require any extra power connectors incidentally."

 512MB OCZ Premiere PC3200 Memory @ TechFreaks:

"At $94 a stick from NewEgg, I was able to get an easy 300MHz overclock resulting in a noticeable performance gain. For those who don't OC, I had no problems running the RAM at more aggressive timings. The Premiere line is a welcomed step up from most Value RAM while keeping an affordable price-tag."

Basics to System Cooling Explained @ CoolTechZone:

"Around eight percent of computer problems are caused by insufficient cooling. The fact is that more computers suffer heat-related problems than users realize. Your computer's stability and speed can both be affected when heat builds up inside the case, which, in return, can cause crashes at odd times and reduce performance significantly. Even if your computer seems to be running fine, it will probably fail prematurely if it's running hot."

LG Flatron L1810B LCD Monitor @ HEXUS:

"Overall I'm impressed by the LG, both in terms of specification and initial out of the box impressions. The resolution is a fine fit for the overall screen size, 19" CRT owners will tell you that, and its even brightness and pin sharp display with the DVI connector are a pleasure. Colour reproduction, something that's hard to objectively test without expensive hardware or software, seems excellent."

OK, that's just about all we've got in store for this installment.  Check back soon!  Peace!
