Lenovo’s K900, The First Intel Clover Trail+ Powered Smartphone Running Android Jelly Bean

It's getting really difficult not to flat-out fall in love Lenovo. The PC maker doesn't sit around and whine about Microsoft stepping into the hardware space (we're looking at you, Acer), nor does it panic when computer sales start to slow down. The company simply continues to put out solid products (ThinkPad X1 Carbon, anyone?), gain market share, and every once in awhile, surprise consumers. This is one of those times.

Meet the K900, Lenovo's flagship phone and the first to sport Clover Trail+ DNA. Yes, it has an Intel Atom Z2580 processor inside and a PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPU, but that's not all. The well-equipped K900 also features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a Full HD 1080 resolution and Gorilla Glass 2, 2GB of RAM, 2MP front-facing camera, 13MP rear-facing camera, and a sexy design that measures an insanely thin 6.9mm. On the software side, it runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.


"With the K900, our team has broken down the key functions of the smartphone and redesigned them from the ground up," said Liu Jun, president, Mobile Internet Digital Home, and senior vice president, Lenovo. "Rather than focus on specifications that look good on a datasheet, we’ve zeroed in on what consumers want and proved that for smartphone users, top performance doesn’t require a thick profile. The K900 is a game-changer that looks as good as it performs."

Lenovo went with a stainless steel alloy and polycarbonate combination in a unibody shell. From the pics we've seen, it looks fantastic, and it won't make your pants sag because it weighs just 162g (5.7 ounces). According to Lenovo, the smooth rear face also prevents the K900 from snagging on clothing.


No word yet on price, though Lenovo did say it will be available from April in China and in select regional markets soon after. Let's hope it finds it way to the U.S.
