Lenovo Broadens Consumer Laptop Portfolio With Z41, Z51, And Affordable IdeaPad 100
Lenovo has been dominating the PC sales chart for the past few years thanks to an aggressive pricing strategy and generally rock solid products. The Chinese OEM is hoping to extend its lead in the consumer space with the release of a few new notebooks aimed at the consumer market: The Z41, Z51, and IdeaPad 100.
The 4.63-pound Lenovo Z41 and 5.07-pound Z51 are multimedia workstations cut from the same cloth, with the former bringing a 14-inch screen and the latter upping the ante slightly with a 15-inch display. Both displays are Full HD (1920x1080) with a brightness of 200 nits. In addition, both the Z41 and Z51 can be equipped with up to a fifth generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to a 1TB HDD or 1TB SSHD.

Other features shared between the two machine include optional JBL sparks with Dolby DS 1.0 Home Theater certification, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, HDMI-out, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and a 1MP webcam. Where the two differ specs wise is in the GPU department. Both come standard with Intel integrated graphics, but the Z41 can optioned up with an AMD Radeon R7-M360 while the Z51 can be had with an R9-M375.
Lenovo has also rolled out 14-inch and 15-inch members of the IdeaPad 100 notebook series. The notebooks are powered by Intel’s BayTrail-M processors, and feature a screen resolution of 1366x768. You’ll find integrated Intel graphics, up to 8GB of RAM, up to a 500GB HDD (or up to a 128GB SSD), one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, HDMI-out, Bluetooth 4.0, and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

“We’ve created the new Lenovo Z41, Z51 and IdeaPad 100 laptops specifically for customers who want simple and functional design,” said BAI Peng, vice president and general manager for Lenovo’s Notebook Business Unit. “But because our customers are diverse, so our products are not ‘one size fits all’ either. Our three new laptops offer customers the choice to select the one that’s right for them – two specialized for multimedia and one all-rounder.”
The Z41 and Z51 each start at $499 (June availability), while a Z51 with an optional Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and an Intel RealSense 3D camera will set you back $599. The IdeaPad 100 notebooks will launch in June with a base MSRP of $249.
