iPhone 5 Will Reportedly Support LTE Around The Globe
If you had any doubts about the iPhone 5's connectivity, don't. With the introduction of LTE in the new iPad, we all knew it was only a matter of time before the high-speed protocol became standard fare on the iPhone. And what better time to introduce an LTE iPhone than at the company's forthcoming September 12th event in San Francisco? The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the next iPhone will handle LTE speeds, and that includes LTE networks in the U.S.A., Europe and throughout Asia. It's probable that not every carrier will support it, however, but so long as the radio is in the phone, future network built-outs should enable a slow rollout of LTE.
Really, Apple didn't have a choice. Android-based phones, and even Windows Phone handsets, have supported LTE on a number of carriers for many months now, and Verizon's LTE network is actually over a year old at this point. The big issue was likely battery life, and if this report is true, we may see Apple claim to have the longest lasting LTE phone on the market. Talk about a claim worth bragging about. All will be revealed in just a few short days.
