Intel Introduces A Wallet Friendly Quad-Core CPU

Intel delivered the first Quad-Core CPU to the PC enthusiast market when they introduced the Core 2 Extreme QX6700. Since then, much like their introduction with a entry-priced Core 2 Duo CPU, Intel has also developed a lower class Quad-core CPU named the Core 2 Quad Q6600,

ntel is already ushering in the new year with yet another Quad Core SKU and setting the pace of the CPU industry for things to come in 2007. Enter the Core 2 Quad Q6600, which like the earlier released Core 2 Extreme QX6700 processor, is also a Kenstfield class processor. This means it's made up of two Conroe dies sandwiched in the same packaging, but the Q6600 is clocked lower at 2.4GHz.

While the QX6700 and the X6800 still retail at about $999.00, the Q6600 will enter into the market at a slightly lower $850.00.
