HTC Schedules April 8 'More Than One' Event As 5.2-Inch One M9+ Photos Leak

HTC has scheduled a press event in Beijing, China for April 8, 2015, at which time it will unveil a new smartphone. The invitation carries the slogan, "More than One," which suggests it's getting ready to unveil the oft-leaked One M9 Plus (One M9+). It seems that most of the details are already floating around the web, though one thing the invitation seems to confirm is the presence of dual cameras.

What appear to be dual cameras can be seen on the partial smartphone image that graces the press event invitation. This wouldn't be new territory for HTC, which equipped its One M8 with dual shooters under the marketing name Duo Lens. The primary benefit of multiple cameras is that you can refocus images after you've already taken the shot.

HTC One M9 Plus Leaked

While we wait for April 8th, photos purporting to show the One M9+ have made their way to the web. These aren't press images or renders, but live shots that were sent to PhoneArena from a source in China. Unfortunately, the leaks and press event location are strong indicators that the One M9+ will only launch in Asian markets and may not set foot on U.S. shores.

In any event, the rumored specs include a 5.2-inch Quad HD display (2560x1440), octa-core MediaTek MT6795T or Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 System-on-Chip (SoC), 3GB of RAM, 20.1-megapixel rear-facing camera, 32GB baked in storage, and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
