HP Z1 G3 Workstation All-in-One Features Xeon Power, 23-Inch 4K Display, NVIDIA Quadro Graphics
Hewlett-Packard is stepping up its game in the professional all-in-one market with the introduction of its third generation Z1 G3 workstation. HP started off by working on the Z1 G3’s chassis, making this latest model both 47 percent smaller and 51 percent lighter than the previous generation.
HP then went straight to work on the Z1 G3’s innards, adding in Intel Xeon processors (E3-1225 v5, E3-1245 v5, E3-1270 v5) and sixth generation Skylake processors. 64GB of memory comes standard with the Z1 G3 (four SO-DIMM slot are included), and businesses have their choice of ECC or non-ECC memory depending on their needs. When it comes to storage, the Z1 G3 comes standard with a 500GB HDD, but can configured with up to a 1TB SATA SSD. And for environments that really need an additional storage subsystem boost, the Z1 G3 can be had with HP’s Z Turbo G2 NVMe SSDs in sizes ranging from 256GB to 1TB.
The Z1 G3’s 23.6-inch display is a step-up from its predecessor, bringing a 4K UHD resolution (3840x2160) and standard Intel HD Graphics 530. However, NVIDIA graphics are on the options sheet, with Quadro M1000M (2GB) or Quadro M2000M (4GB) offered for those that require additional 3D performance. As for external expansion, the Z1 G3 includes six USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt 3/USB-C (3.1) ports, one DisplayPort and a media reader to handle all of your photo editing needs.
“We took our groundbreaking, and most innovative workstation- the original Z1-and reinvented it by listening to our customers to create a new smaller, lighter and lower cost model,” said HP Inc. Thin Clients President and GM Jeff Wood. “The new Z1 will introduce more new customers to workstation power and reliability, while HP RGS with a Mac Receiver will open doors to more Apple customers wanting to integrate our powerful Z Workstations.”
The Z1 G3 will be available to purchase in May with a starting price of $1,498, which is $500 less than its Z1 G2 predecessor.
