Google Rumored to Release Nexus 5 on Halloween

Anticipation is running high for Google's next smartphone, the Nexus 5, especially since you can no longer purchase the Nexus 4 direct from Google Play (both 8GB and 16GB models are sold out and aren't likely to be coming back). There have been plenty of leaks associated with the Nexus 5, including a rough draft of the device's entire user manual, but one thing we don't have is a release date.

Canadian tech blog Mobile Syrup claims it's "been tipped" that the Nexus 5 will launch on October 31, 2013 to Google Play, then arrive on Canadian carriers like Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Koodo, and Virgin on either November 7th or 8th.

The Halloween launch isn't confirmed by Google or LG, the latter of which is once again manufacturing Google's unlocked smartphone. However, based on previous leaks, some of which pegged the Nexus 5 to come out in mid-October, and the fact that the Nexus 4 has been cleared out, we can reasonably surmise the launch isn't far away.

In addition, Google's web team accidentally posted the Nexus 5 live on Google Play a week ago. The incomplete page listed the 16GB model selling for $349, though the page wasn't equipped to accept orders at that point. Google pulled the listing offline later that same day.
