Firefox 4 Leapfrogs Internet Explorer 9 in Downloads, Usage
"Firefox 4 has really hit the ground running and has eclipsed the launch of IE 9," commented Aodhan Cullen, CEO, StatCounter. "Although IE 9 has undoubtedly been hampered by its lack of compatibility with Windows XP."
Download numbers tell a similar story. Microsoft was justifiably excited when IE9 logged 2.35 million downloads in its first 24 hours, proof positive that if you build a browser that doesn't blow, people will at least try it out. However, people were more eager to try out Firefox 4, which logged more than 4 million downloads in its first 24 hours, and now sits at over 7.4 million downloads (and climbing). You can keep track of Firefox 4's download stats here.
Did you download IE9 or Firefox 4? What did you think? And if not, what browser are you using?
