Dell Site Confirms Windows 8 Apps Will Run on Microsoft Xbox One

Give Microsoft credit for its aggressive efforts to unify its ecosystem across a range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, desktops, and laptops. What's more, it looks like you'll be able to run Windows 8 applications on the company's upcoming Xbox One console, which launches to retail on November 22, 2013 in the U.S.

Microsoft hasn't come out and officially confirmed the Xbox One will run Windows 8 apps, but a listing on Dell's website where you can pre-order the console suggests it's definitely a feature of the console, and a game changing one at that.

Xbox One

"Consider the game officially changed. With all your favorite Windows 8 apps able to be run on and synced to your Xbox One, now your phone, desktop, tablet, and TV can all give you a unified web and entertainment experience," Dell states.

It's possible Dell has its facts all mixed up, but it's not as though Microsoft hasn't hinted at this ability before. Equally intriguing to running Windows 8 apps on the Xbox One is being able to control them with the bundled Kinect sensor. We won't know all the details until Microsoft comes out and confirms (or debunks) Dell's statement, but until then, feel free to let your mind run wild with the possibilities.
