CyberPowerPC Rolls Out Ivy Bridge Desktops Starting at $749

Boutique system builder CyberPowerPC today joins a growing number of vendors offering desktops built around Intel's newly released Ivy Bridge platform. Where CyberPowerPC tries to set itself apart is in price. Systems infused with 3rd generation Intel Core processors start at just $749, though you can drop much, much more if your budget allows.

CyberPowerPC systems rocking Ivy Bridge processors inside include the Fang III Viper, Fang Rattler, Zeus Thunder, and Gamer Xtreme. The Gamer Xtreme is the most affordable of the bunch. For a base price of $765 (a tad higher than the $749 figure CyberPowerPC advertises in its press release, though you can downgrade options like the case to get to that price point), it comes with:
  • Raidmax Blade mid-tower case with side panel window
  • Intel Core i5 3450 processor clocked at 3.10GHz
  • Asetek 510LC liquid cooling system
  • Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H motherboard
  • 8GB DDR3-1333 memory
  • Nvidia GeForce GT 520 graphics card
  • 1TB SATA 6Gbps hard drive (7,200 RPM, 32MB cache)
  • 24X DVD writer
  • Keyboard/mouse
  • 450W power supply
  • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
  • 3-year warranty

That's not a bad little setup for the money, though the first thing we'd upgrade is the videocard followed by the power supply. By doing so, you could have a pretty serious next-generation gaming machine on your hands for around a thousand bucks. Well played, CyberPowerPC.
