Bad Piggies Take Flight, Will This Be Rovio's Next Smash Hit?
Rovio's wildly successful Angry Birds franchise needs no introduction. But Bad Piggies? That one needs some explaining. Looking to, um, piggyback on the success of Angry Birds, Bad Piggies is what Rovio hopes will be the company's next mega hit. While the main characters look familiar, don't expect the same type of game play.
Your job in the Bad Piggies spinoff is to "create the ultimate flying machine and steer [the pigs] safely to their destination." The maps and 60 levels are different, the game play mechanics are different, and the objective is decidedly different. There's no slingshot, but what you will find are a bunch of pieces and parts that you must assemble in order to get the pigs from Point A to Point B.
"The Bad Piggies have finally found a map to the eggs, but now it’s in pieces all over Piggy Island! But that won’t stop the King Pig, who orders his loyal minions to recover the map wherever it is, even from the top of a mountain or the bottom of a cave!," Rovio pitches on its Bad Piggies website. "Those tricky pigs have a few objects they can use -- umbrellas, wings, bottle rockets, balloons, engines, and much more -- but they need your help to turn it into the perfect transportation!"
There are supposedly millions of combinations to keep the game play fresh and replayable.
For the time being, Bad Piggies is available in the Apple App Store ($0.99), Mac App Store ($4.99), Google Play (Free), and PC ($4.95). Versions compatible with Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 are coming soon.
