Asus Get Stylish With U And UX Series Notebooks

Asus has been exceptionally busy this week at CeBIT, announcing everything from new notebooks to new monitors to new concepts. Two laptop lines that have still been under wraps until now, however, are the U and UX Series. As with most of the other small Asus machines coming out these days, these families are also highly stylized, hoping to catch the ever wandering eye of the consumer with sexy lines, thin bodies and flashy specification sheets.

In fact, Asus itself proclaims that each of these new lines were custom tailored for the individual who "accepts no compromise when it comes to exquisite taste in high fashion and possesses an eye for the latest trends as well as the intricacies in design." Well, alrighty then! Both U and UX machines are blessed with an illuminated "chiclet" keyboard, which lights up and dims out as ambient light changes around the user. That same light sensor also keeps the LED-backlit display at the proper brightness, saving energy and keeping things visable regardless of the lighting scenario.

One of the more unique features on the U series is the illuminated and interactive touchpad which "sends a trail of progressively fading lights to pinpoint the location of the users’ fingertips." Cool? You bet. Useful? Eh, we're not so sure. At any rate, both lines are also equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 500GB of hard drive space,  NVIDIA's GeForce G 105M (512MB), Altec Lansing speakers, SRS True Surround technology and the usual assortment of sockets and connections. We expect Asus to dish out more details along with pricing and availability information whenever it finally escapes Germany.
