Amazon Now Offers Interest-Free Financing for Kindle Fire HDX Tablet
The Kindle Fire HDX is a solid tablet in its own right, but it's still not "cheap" by most definitions. In order to combat that, Amazon's offering you the ability to pick one up, and then give you nine months to pay it off. The $229 7" HDX and the $379 8.9" HDX are included in the offer, and you'll have four installments of payments to pay Amazon back. There's no interest, and in typical Amazon fashion, few catches to speak of. If you don't pay it back? Well, Amazon reserves the right to "deregister your Kindle Fire HDX device, which will block your ability to access Amazon content from your Kindle Fire HDX device."
The idea of paying for gadgets on a monthly basis has taken on a life of its own lately, with T-Mobile's JUMP program and AT&T's NEXT initiative being the main drivers. Our advice? Don't splurge on a tablet unless you can afford it right away; chances are, you'll still be paying for this HDX by the time the new Kindle Fire ships next year, and that won't be any fun at all.
