Amazon Game Studios Seeks Developers For ‘Ambitious New PC Game’

Amazon is going to build its very first PC game. Yes, that Amazon, the one that started off as an online bookstore and now rules the e-commerce scene with everything from diapers to car parts. It's not yet know what type of game it will be or what the plot will involve, only that it's currently working on "an ambitious new PC game project."

To get the job done, Amazon is looking to expand its talent pool of developers. The Seattle-based team that's working on the PC game project is currently comprised of former Portal, World of Warcraft, and BioShock creators. They've also worked on titles like Half Life 2, Left for Dead, Dota 2, Halo, Infamous, Shadows of Mordor, and The Last of Us.

Lost Within

"Amazon is committed to gamers, and building great teams who are excited to use Twitch, the AWS cloud, and technical innovation to radically evolve gameplay," Amazon stated in a job listing. "We believe that games have just scratched the surface in their power to unite players and will produce some of the future’s most influential voices in media and art."

While this will be Amazon's first PC game, it's not entirely new territory for the company. Amazon Game Studios has put out a handful of mobile and casual titles, such as Lost Within, Til Morning's Light, Tales From Deep Space, and several others.

Amazon's also been on a buying and hiring spree. The company bought Double Helix last year, and there are reports that it's spent a handsome sum licensing CryEngine, the same used for games like Crysis 3 and Star Citizen.
