Alienware M17x Laptop Gets Three NVIDIA GPUs

Mobile gamers, the bar has just been raised. For weeks now, Dell/Alienware have been teasing a new gaming notebook that was said to be "All Powerful." One thing's for sure now that the company has made it official: it's amongst the most powerful we've ever seen. Utilizing no fewer than three NVIDIA GeForce GPUs, the 17" M17x is -- at least according to Dell -- the "most powerful laptop in the universe."

Without question, this is also one of the largest notebooks known to man, with a starting weight of nearly 12 pounds and a thickness of over 2 inches. In other words, this thing stretches the mere meaning of "portable." There's also an Anodized Aluminum Industrial Design, a personalized laser engraved nameplate and room for a pair of NVIDIA 1GB GeForce GTX 280M GPUs with NVIDIA SLI technology along with the GeForce 9400M. Users can configure the machine with up to an Intel Core 2 Extreme quad-core CPU, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, a 1TB 7200RPM hard drive (or a 512GB SSD), an optional WUXGA 1200p (1920 x 1200) Edge-to-Edge LCD display, Wi-Fi, an illuminated keyboard and Windows Vista 64-bit.

It's available to order now starting at $1,799, but those extra sweet options will easily push this one into $3k+ territory.
