Acer Vows to Overtake Lenovo Next Year

Infoworld is reporting that Acer has taken the gloves off and vows to take down number 3 computer manufacturer Lenovo next year.  According to IDC, Lenovo currently has 7.8% market share as opposed to Acer's 6%.  Though Acer holds less market share, they are outpacing in sales at 34.3% in the third quarter as opposed to 10% for Lenovo.  Acer experienced a 17% ($7.5 Billion) year to year growth during the first nine months of this year.

"We can become No. 3 through organic growth, not through merger and acquisition," said Gianfranco Lanci, president of Acer, during the celebration Tuesday at an upscale hotel in downtown Taipei.
