Acer Unwraps Haswell-Based Desktops, Laptops and Ultrabooks at Computex

With Haswell processors out and Computex taking place in Taiwan this week, it’s a perfect time to announce new systems, and Acer has those in spades. It took the wraps off a total of 23 Aspire notebooks and six Aspire desktops that have Haswell processors. Not surprisingly, it’s billing the mobile systems as offering great battery life, thanks to the energy-saving Haswell tech. Here are some particularly noteworthy systems to keep an eye out for.

Gaming laptops are not as out-of-reach as they used to be for many consumers, and the Acer Aspire V3-772G proves that point by offering a 17-inch gaming system at a starting price of $999.99. Laptop options include a Core i7-4702MQ processor, up to 12GB of memory, and a 1TB hard drive. For graphics, you’re looking at an Nvidia GeForce GTX760M.

Acer Predator AG3-605-UR20 Gaming Desktop

And, if you feel the same way about desktops as my colleague Seth Colaner does, there’s the entertainment/gaming-oriented Acer Predator AG3-605-UR20. The system, which starts at $1,499.99, doesn’t have the space constraints of a laptop, which means oodles more memory (32GB, to be exact) and 3TB of hard drive storage. The PC is powered by an Intel Core i7-4770 (Turbo Boost brings the 3.4GHz clock speed to 3.9GHz) and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX660 graphics card with 1.5GB of video memory.

These systems are available now or by the end of the month, so if you’re looking for a system to spice up your summer, you needn’t wait long.
