Samsung's Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) and Galaxy Note 3 Released As Partners To Galaxy Gear Smartwatch
Samsung's "Unpacked" Event kicked off today, and the new Galaxy Gear smartwatch wasn't the only new toy trotted out. Those hoping for a refreshed tablet also have something to peer at, as the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) has been revealed. It's quite the odd name, given that it's not even 2014 yet, but we recognize the challenge in ushering out new iterations of an old product while maintaining something of a uniform naming process. At any rate, the Note 10.1 ships with a 10" display, a WQXGA resolution (which equates to an eye-popping 2560x1600 resolution), and a 1.9GHz Octa-Core processor.
There's also 3GB of RAM, plenty of Android extras (including Multi Window, enhanced S Pen support, Pen Window, etc.), and the newest edition of Jelly Bean (Android 4.3) onboard. The new Note 10.1 will also include a Samsung Apps widget that will direct users to additional beneficial content provided by Samsung.
The tablet will come in three connectivity options: WiFi Only, WiFi and 3G, WiFi and LTE, available in 16/32/64GB + Micro SD. Comes with two color options, Jet Black and Classic White, the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) will be offered globally and will be available starting from Q3, 2013. Pricing, sadly, hasn't been mentioned, but here's an interesting nugget: outside of the Note 3, this is the only Samsung product that'll be compatible with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch until the rest of the lot receives their Android 4.3 update.

It's Samsung's latest phablet, and it's shipping later this fall with a 5.7" (1080p) display, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.3, and a fake-leather back that's sure to feel comfy in the hand. And, given the size, you'll probably appreciate the grip. It will also be compatible with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch right out of the box, but sadly, we're going to have to wait for carriers to announce pricing.
