Intel Releases Major Iris Graphics Driver Update for Haswell CPUs, Promises "Stunning" Performance Gains
Intel's attempt to flip the script on integrated graphics began when the chip maker introduced its Iris (HD Graphics 5100) and Iris Pro (HD Graphics 5200) GPUs infused on certain 4th Generation Core (read: Haswell) processors. We've seen some promising results out of these parts, and with a major driver update now available, Intel says you can expect "stunning performance improvements."
According to Intel, the driver update gives Iris and Iris Pro a significant boost in gaming performance with Intel's anti-aliasing feature CMAA (Conservative Morphological Anti-Aliasing) while at the same time boosting battery life through newer power conservation techniques like Adaptive Rendering Control.

"Experience up to 30 percent improvement in performance in certain OpenCL workloads and up to 10 percent improvement with certain games (see driver release notes for details). The new and enhanced graphics control panel offers additional media and display customization capabilities," Intel says.
In the release notes (PDF), Intel claims its CMAA is superior to MLAA (Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing) and FXAA (Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing) because it offers higher quality visuals and without a performance impact.
