Asus PadFone Infinity with 5-inch 1080p Display Now Official
Asus wasted no time at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) to unveil its latest addition to the PadFone family, the PadFone Infinity. Just like previous iterations, the PadFone Infinity is an Android smartphone by day and a tablet by night (or whenever you want it to be one or the other). As a phone, it rocks a better-than-Retina 5-inch Full HD 1080p (1920x1080, 441ppi) Super IPS display, 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, and 2GB of RAM wrapped in an aluminum unibody chassis.
It also has 64GB of built-in storage, 4G LTE connectivity, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with an f/2.0 5-element lens, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, micro USB port, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC support, and a 2,400mAh battery with up to 19 hours of 3G talk time. All this plus it comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.
Slide the PadFone into the Infinity Station (dock) and it becomes a 10.1-inch tablet with more than twice the battery life at up to 40 hours. Asus says you can fully recharge the PadFone three times over with the Infinity Station. The display resolution is also slightly better at 1920x1200, though the front-facing camera is downgraded to 1MP.
Unfortunately the PadFone Infinity isn't bound for the U.S. market. It will, however, travel to Europe in April where it will sell for £799 (around $1,200).
