Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update Rolling Out To HTC One M8 Developer Edition, Android L Comes Next

For those of you rocking HTC's One M8 Developer Edition smartphone, be on the lookout for an Android 4.4.3 KitKit upgrade containing the company's custom Sense 6 User Interface (UI). After being teased in a Twitter post midway through July, HTC more recently tweeted an update confirming that the ROM has begun rolling out over the air (OTA).

A related update for standard One M8 handsets shouldn't be too far behind. And in both cases, this is probably the last KitKit update before Android L strolls into view, as HTC plucked all the security updates from Android 4.4.4 and put it into the Android 4.4.3 firmware that's currently being beamed to users.

Be warned that this is a fairly large file and something you'll probably want to download over Wi-Fi if you have a data cap on your wireless plan. How large? Try 592.17MB, according to a screenshot by XDA Developers forum member dragonesdenano.

This is essentially the same release that HTC One M7 users have been enjoying for some time now. Like the M8, the next release for the M7 will be Android L, which will feature an overhauled UI that's cleaner and filled with subtle animation effects. It will also have improved notifications, better battery management, and more.
