Today, AMD is officially announcing its Radeon R7 250X, a new $100 GPU that the company is positioning against NVIDIA's GTX 650 in the entry-level, discrete graphics market. Like all of AMD's other recent product launches, save for the R9 290 family, the new Radeon R7 250X is a rebranded HD 7000 part -- but it also comes along with a $15 price cut. For a card priced at roughly $100, that's not insignificant. The "new" R7 250X is essentially a rebranded Radeon 7770 GHz Edition, with the same 640 stream processors, 128-bit memory interface, 1-2GB of GDDR5 frame buffer, 1125MHz memory clock,... Read more...
We've been wondering how AMD would respond to Nvidia's new GTX 660 Ti and Team Red has given us our answer. AMD is slashing prices across the entire Radeon HD 7000 family. The HD 7950 should start showing up as low as $319 by the end of the week, compared to current prices in the $349-$369 range. The 7870 GHz edition is headed southwards as well, down to $249 from $299-$319 at present. The 7850, AMD's current $239-$259 card, is taking a price cut of nearly 20%, down to $209 for the 2GB flavor and $189 for the 1GB card. That's not all. The GPU developer is also launching a marketing campaign around... Read more...
We have been hearing about AMD’s “Southern Island” family of graphics processors for quite some time. Rumors about these parts have been rampant for what seems like ages, but now, just in time to get all you hardcore gamers fired up this holiday season, AMD is officially taking the wraps of Southern Islands. More specifically, today AMD is announcing their latest flagship single-GPU, the Radeon HD 7970.... Read more...

AMD launched a new suite of HD 7000 SKUs today aimed at the midrange and value mobile markets, but these aren't the 28nm, Southern Islands GPUs that consumers have been watching for. These new HD 7400M, 7500M, and 7600M parts are rebranded 40nm hardware. The "new" chips are all based on AMD's HD 6000 "Northern Islands" GPU, which means they incorporate the improved tessellation performance of that chip (possibly combined with UDVD 3.0). These products retain the VLIW5 design that drove earlier iterations of AMD's Radeon products, rather than the more efficient VLIW4 architecture that debuted with... Read more...
