If you're not wanting to pledge allegiance to either Android or iOS in the smartwatch sector, you might be interested in Alcatel's OneTouch, a cross-platform wearable that's now available to pre-order in the U.S. for $149.99 on the company's website. It's the same one that was first showed off at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year and is slated to ship on June 1, 2015. The OneTouch sports a 1.22-inch touchscreen display with a 240x204 resolution. There’s really no other way to say it: BT and Alcatel-Lucent claim that they’ve reached Internet speeds of 1.4Tbps over an existing fiber connection. To be clear, that terabits, not gigabits; we’ve covered a good amount of news related to the latter lately because almost nobody has access to those kinds of speeds as it is. In a desperate bid to save a sinking ship, Alcatel-Lucent, a global mobile phone manufacturer and telecommunications equipment company, is planning to reduce its workforce by around 10,000 employees by the end of 2015, the firm announced today. The job cuts are part of what Alcatel-Lucent is calling "The Shift Plan," which is an attempt to transform the company by repositioning it as a specialist in the next-generation technologies of IP networking, cloud, and ultra-broadband access.
