After successfully launching in South Korea last month, the LG Optimus G Pro has found its way to Japan through NTT DoCoMo, though it wields a smaller screen. For whatever reason, LG decided to implement a 5-inch display in Japan versus the 5.5-inch panel used in the South Korean market. LG didn't say why it went with a smaller form factor, only explaining in a translated press release that it was designed this way "specifically for the Japanese market." Go figure. Samsung pretty much owns the phablet market with its Galaxy Note line, but now that device makers know there's a market for oversized handsets, you can expect some healthy competition. One of those competitors is LG, which as we already know is prepping a 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro device with an impressive assortment of hardware. It will make its official debut in just a couple of days.
