The locations in Grand Theft Auto V may resemble real life locales, such as Los Angeles (Los Santos), Venice Beach (Vespucci Beach), and Griffith Observatory (Galileo Observatory), but the illegal shenanigans that take place in the game have no place in the real world. Nevertheless, if you've ever wondered what it would be like to treat the real world like a video game, a video by Corridor Digital shows you just how absurd that notion is. Dubbed "Real GTA," the video follows an actor through GTA V-like scenes based on the game's real-world counterparts. He performs a number of crimes throughout... Read more...
Ever since Grand Theft Auto V’s initial release back in September 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, PC gamers have been eagerly waiting for Rockstar Games to bring title to the PC. 18 months later, and the long-awaited game has finally been released. Unfortunately, while Rockstar Games is known for releasing some top-notch titles, its track record with porting its games to PC hasn’t been stellar. When Grand Theft Auto IV came out for the PC platform back in 2008, about eight months after the console version, it was criticized as a poor port at the time. Suffering from performance issues... You may recall that we gave Grand Theft Auto V an Editor's Choice award when we reviewed it for the Xbox 360 nearly a year and a half ago. We've been anxiously waiting for it to arrive on Windows ever since, and were stoked when Rockstar Games said it would release to PC in January 2015. Ah, but it wasn't meant to be, as January turned into March 24, which has now turned into April 14. Yes, GTA V for PC is delayed again, though this time it's by less than a month. Whether it will be worth the long wait remains to be seen, and we're cautiously optimistic it will be, considering the graphical upgrades... Read more...
The Grand Theft Auto franchise is still making Take-Two Interactive bookoo bucks, with the latest installment -- Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) -- having now sold more than 45 million units on console, including 10 million on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game has yet to launch for PC -- it was originally supposed to debut on Windows on January 27, 2015, but was delayed until March 24. Sales of GTA V contributed to $531.1 million in revenue for Take-Two's fiscal third quarter ended December 31, 2014, on a GAAP basis, along with net income of $40.1 million, or $0.42 per diluted share. On a non-GAAP... Read more...
Ever wondered what would happen if a group of senior citizens sat down for a spell to play Grand Theft Auto V? Wonder know more, because the folks who run the REACT channel on YouTube did exactly that, though instead of throwing their controllers down in disgust over the in-game violence and various illegal activities, they enjoyed themselves. Immensely. Each senior citizen was given 30 minutes of play time in GTA V's open world. They weren't given any information other than basic controls. Other than that, it was up to them to explore the environment and play the game however they wish. Early... Read more...
Well, who didn’t see this one coming? Delays for highly anticipated video games are nothing new, so you shouldn’t be too surprised to hear that Rockstar Games has delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto V for the PC. The game was originally set to debut on January 27, but that date has now been pushed back until March 24. “Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be,” said Rockstar in a posting on its website earlier this morning. “Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice... Even the miscreants of Los Santos get into the holiday spirit. Well, sort of. It's not like they'll put down their weapons and stop stealing cars, but at least now they'll wreak havoc while dressed appropriately for the season. We're talking about ugly sweaters that have suddenly become faux fashionable and holiday masks -- ever rob a store looking like a gingerbread man? Now you can, once you install the latest title update for Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar Games is rolling out the 1.19 update for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and 1.05 update for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The updates are chock... Read more...
Rockstar Games is gearing up to release Grand Theft Auto V to PlayStation 4 and XBox One systems tomorrow (November 18, 2014), both of which will benefit from immediate patches. The size of the Xbox One patch hasn't yet been confirmed, though if you're rocking a PS4 console, be prepared to download a 1.14GB update if you want the best experience. The size of the patch became public knowledge after GTA V was made available to pre-load over the weekend. If you're planning to play the game tomorrow, pre-loading isn't a bad idea, especially if your Internet connection isn't all that fast to begin with.... Read more...
The gift giving season is virtually upon us, and because you worked hard this year, it's okay to treat yourself while you're at it. Heck, it's all but unavoidable with all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals around the bend. That includes the newest generation game consoles -- Microsoft will be on board, as it always is, and Sony just announced a couple of game bundles for its PlayStation 4 system. The first is the Grand Theft Auto V PS4 Black Friday Bundle. It consists of a 500GB PS4 system and a copy of GTA V, along with a digital download voucher for The Last of Us Remastered, all for the... In a couple of weeks, Grand Theft Auto V will be released again for the current generation of consoles, though PC gamers will have to wait a bit longer. However, Rockstar Games is shaking things up by allowing gamers to play the third-person action-adventure game in first person. This marks the first time that a Grand Theft Auto game has officially implemented a first-person mode (there have been mods prior to this for older games). “It’s a very intense, in-your-face experience… literally,” said GTA V animation director Rob Nelson to IGN. “Obviously, we felt like... Back in April, Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto V would be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. One thing many fans of highly anticipated games look forward to is the beta access. Getting the opportunity to play, test, and provide feedback on the game is one that many enjoy participating in. But, as usual, there are those that try to take advantage of a consumer’s enthusiasm and Rockstar Games is warning fans not to fall for any beta scams. Considering the popularity of GTA V, which was able to generate $800 million in sales within the first 24 hours of release,... Read more...
Back in July, Lindsay Lohan filed a lawsuit against Grand Theft Auto V developer Rockstar Games. In her lawsuit, the actress claimed that a GTA V character named Lacey Jonas resembled her in looks and shared a similar voice. Now, Lohan has filed a 67-page complaint, an amended version of the original 10-page complaint, against publisher Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games for using her likeness. The complaint features 45 pages of pictorial evidence that includes a picture of one of the game discs that shows a blonde woman wearing a red bikini and making a peace sign that supposedly bears a... Back in June, Rockstar Games confirmed that it was developing Grand Theft Auto V for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. Now we know when it is coming out. For those who own the Xbox One or PS4 will be able to purchase GTA V on November 18. Unfortunately for PC gamers, the PC version will not be available until January 27, 2015. The next-gen version of the insanely successful game, which boasted $1 billion in sales within its first three days, has received an upgrade to its visual and technical aspects. It features increased draw distances, higher resolutions, and enhanced weather effects.... Read more...
You can get a jump start on the 4th of July festivities by downloading a Grand Theft Auto V title update (version 1.15) containing special content for Independence Day. This is very much a themed update with two new vehicles sporting permanent American Flag livery -- the Sovereign motorcycle and the super-sized Liberator monster truck. All that's missing is a bumper sticker declaring, "These colors don't run!" Naturally no GTA V update would be complete without new weapons, and this one brings them in a form of a high-powered Musket and a Firework Rocket Launcher. It also introduces four types...
