EVGA set up shop in a swank suite at the Bellagio Hotel a short distance away from the craziness of the Las Vegas Convention Center, to display its latest products to CES attendees. Whenever a company uses the word "value" to describe a product, our skepticism meter starts buzzing. In many cases, their definition of value either differs from ours, or the low price comes at the expense of quality. EVGA contends that neither is the case with its new line of GQ power supplies for budget conscious buyers. Although the $999 GeForce GTX Titan X is currently the King of the single-GPU hill, NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 980 Ti is the far more palatable option for most hardcore enthusiasts, due to its lower $649 starting price point. As we showed you in our initial coverage of the GeForce GTX 980 Ti, however, the card is still a monster in terms of performance. NVIDIA is launching a new mainstream graphics card today, the GeForce GTX 950, based on the company’s GM206 GPU. If you remember, the GM206 debuted on the GeForce GTX 960, which launched a few months back. As the new card’s name suggests though, the GM206 used on the GeForce GTX 950 isn’t quite as powerful as the one used on the GTX 960.We’ll have more details on the GPU itself below (hint: it’s got a couple of SMs disabled) and will show off and benchmark a couple of retail-ready cards from EVGA and ASUS on the pages ahead. Although Intel has something new coming down the pipeline in the not-too-distant future, Haswell-E and the X99 chipset will remain its flagship, high-performance desktop platform for quite some time. As we discovered in March, NVIDIA's GeForce GTX TITAN X is a seriously powerful graphics card. Under its hood are 8 billion transistors -- 50% more than the GTX 980. Despite that, it shares the same exact form-factor and reference cooler as the GTX 980. While that's sufficient enough, given that reference cooler is quite good, it does mean that TITAN X will peak at high temperatures even easier. According to EVGA, this is the ultimate plug and play solution as no maintenance is required from the user. Thankfully, we’ve had some time to refresh our memory banks and report on these two particular beauties that we saw at the EVGA booth. First up is the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Classified ACX 2.0. In case the brouhaha surrounding the 4GB framebuffer on NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 970 wasn't a strong enough indication, a lot of gamers want a full fast 4GB on their GPUs. Even those opting for more modest cards, it seems, such as the GTX 960. When EVGA released its first gaming mouse last fall, it was evident that the company wasn't interested in entering the market with a whimper. While we found that some aspects of the Torq X10 could have used some tweaking, it was without question a solid first effort, and did well to whet our appetites for what was to come. Today, EVGA expands its Torq line with the X3 and X5, and as you've no doubt surmised already, these are EVGA's mid-range mice. To date, NVIDIA has introduced only a couple of Maxwell-based desktop GPUs. Back in September, the company launched the powerful and potent GeForce GTX 980 (and its little brother, the GeForce GTX 970), featuring the GM204. The GM204 is currently NVIDIA’s fastest single-GPU, though a larger “big” Maxwell-based chip akin to the GK110 powering cards like the GeForce GTX Titan, will likely be introduced at some point as well.
