There are drones, and there are drones that can capture video. And then there are drones like the Teal that can fly at over 70 MPH and capture 4K footage. Whoa. When someone purchases any sort of drone, they'll have a specific use case in mind. Some drones are good for racing, while others are good at capturing amazing photography from the air. There are even drones that can follow you around. What makes Teal a bit different is that it's able to not just go fast, but capture high-res video at the same time. The Teal drone isn't a be-all-end-all drone right out of the box; it's flexible, able to... Read more...
We learned last week that Sony is planning to release an updated PlayStation 4 console, one with much greater capabilities than the original. While specifics are being kept mum until later, Sony's confirmation of the 'PS 4.5' spurred questions about whether or not Microsoft would follow-suit, even though certain executives have shot down the idea in recent months. Well as it happens, Microsoft is going to be releasing an upgraded Xbox One, codenamed 'Project Scorpio'. It's said to be up to four times faster than the original Xbox One, which should put it well ahead of the PlayStation 4.5 (we still... Read more...

Earlier this morning, we brought you news of fresh Switch 2-in-1 convertibles and business-class TravelMate notebooks from Acer. Not to be left out, the company has also revealed a pretty swanky 32-inch monitor that many people would love to have sitting on their desk at home (or at the office). The Acer BM320 measures 32-inch diagonally and comes with a 4K UHD screen resolution (3840x2160). Acer says that display offers “professional-grade” color accuracy, with the ability to display 100 percent of the Adobe RGB color gamut. If that wasn’t tough, the BM320 covers 100 percent of the Rec. 709 and... Read more...

Microsoft and 343 Industries are bringing multiplayer action to Halo 5 on PC, albeit in a roundabout sort of way. Multiplayer will be part of Forge - Halo 5: Guardians Edition for Windows 10, the long winded name of Halo's custom map builder and toolset. It will be a free download though it won't feature full multiplayer support. Most notably it won't have online matchmaking with random opponents. Instead, you'll be limited to playing with people on your friends list. Microsoft envisions this as a sort of testing ground for you and your Forge creations, meaning you'll be able to upload and download... Read more...
Sony first announced its Ultra 4K streaming service earlier this year, and we’re now learning that it will launch early next month — April 4th to be specific. However, this won’t be an all-you-can-eat buffet as you might expect with streaming 4K content from Amazon or Netflix. Instead, you’ll be purchasing titles at a hefty $30 each and will be given access to features like High Dynamic Range (HDR) and digital extras that are normally found only on physical discs. Some of the initial titles available on Ultra include Ghostbusters, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Looper, Waterfront, Concussion and... Read more...
It’d be hard to fault our readers if they rolled their eyes at the reports of an upcoming 4K-capable PlayStation 4. While mid-cycle upgrades are often made to console hardware, it usually takes the form of shrinking the hardware and/or reducing power requirements. But the promise of more powerful hardware for the PlayStation 4 — we’ll simply call it the PlayStation 4.5 from here on out -- raised a few skeptical eyebrows. That skepticism is now starting to fade away just a bit with a fresh report from the Wall Street Journal. The publication builds on the initial report with word that the console... Read more...
Word on the web is that Sony is coming out with a new game console, though don't get your knickers in a twist over the timing. This isn't a next-generation console we're talking about, but an incremental upgrade to the PlayStation 4 with a much beefier GPU capable of letting owners play games at a 4K Ultra HD resolution. This is based on unnamed developer sources who have apparently spoken with Sony on the matter, who then turned around and spilled the beans to Kotaku. If those developers aren't blowing smoke up everyone's backside, then the PlayStation 4.5, or whatever Sony chooses to call it,... Read more...
By now you're probably burned out on smartphone and VR buzz. We don't blame you, Mobile World Congress week has been a whirlwind akin to only that sort of frenzied pace we experience at CES. Of course we agree, mobile computing isn't just about smartphones and other pocketable devices, even if what's coming is finally breaking the mold with modularity and even possibly someday complete end user repairability and upgradability. Well, even though HP joined the MWC 2016 party with a smartphone of their own (Windows 10 Mobile no less and with impressive scalability), they also decided to drop in a... Read more...
Get out your driving gloves and buckle up folks, the newest Need for Speed title from developer Ghost Games and publisher Electronic Arts is burning rubber to PCs next month with a few new fancy features in tow. One of those is a 4K resolution option with uncapped framerates. If you have the necessary horsepower to drive a 4K gaming experience, you'll be treated to some sweet visuals. Ghost Games also added manual transmission support to the forthcoming PC release. This was one of the notable omissions when the Need for Speed reboot launched to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 back in early November... Read more...
It appears that 4K fever has struck with a vengeance in the desktop monitor and television sectors as the “Next Big Thing.” 4K displays are even bubbling up in the notebook market with devices like the Dell XPS 15 and Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro. But what about 4K displays in smartphones? While most would agree that it’s overkill, Sony’s Xperia Z5 Premium can playback videos and display pictures in 4K (it defaults to 1080p resolution for all other content to conserve battery life). ARM is betting on 4K becoming a much bigger deal in the smartphone and tablet markets, which is why it has pulled the... Read more...
At a show where huge, elaborate booths are the norm, LG always manages to outshine most. Year after year, it walks journalists and other attendees through massive displays that positively bristle with new electronics and enormous TVs that fill the room with color. This year, LG is rocking the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with some new 4K TVs and is even talking up a 98-inch, 8K TV. “We’re confident our newest HDR-enabled SUPER UHD TVs in 2016 will generate much excitement not in the industry, but also with consumers in general,” said Brian Kwon, President and CEO at LG’s Home Entertainment... Early last month we first brought you news of Toshiba’s handsome Satellite Radius 12 convertible. Besides the fact that the convertible is sporting the versatile new Windows 10 operating system, we were immediately drawn to its 12.5-inch display, which is bursting with 4K goodness (it sports a 3840x2160 resolution and 353 pixels per inch to be exact). Today, we’re learning that Satellite Radius 12 will be priced from $999, but that is for a model with “only” a Full HD (1920x1080) display. If you want the 4K Ultra HD Edition, you’ll have to part with $1,299. No matter which model you choose, you’ll... Read more...
