iBuyPower's Latest Six-Core Gaming Rigs Available Only at...Newegg?

Last we checked, boutique system builder iBuyPower had no less than 627 million gaming machines to choose from and configure, or somewhere thereabouts. Alright, so our math might be slightly off, but the point is, the company can afford to toss a bone to Newegg, largely regarded as the go-to online vendor for computer parts, by selling a gaming rig or two exclusively through the online e-tailer. Well folks, that's exactly what they've done, putting together a pair of pre-assembled six-core Phenom II X6 gaming rigs available only on Newegg.com.

First up is the LAN Warrior 5830Q6, which iBuyPower says is a little more than half the size of most full tower systems. Built around AMD's 880G platform, this one comes configured with an AMD Phenom II X6 1055T processor, ATI Radeon HD 5830 GPU, 4GB of DDR3-1333 memory, a 24X DVD burner, 1TB hard drive, and a 700W power supply.

For those who need a bit more gaming punch, the Chimera DX12SD6 kicks things up a notch with a larger case (Chimera Inferno 2 Gaming Tower) to accommodate the Radeon HD 5870 graphics card, 8GB of DDR3-1333 memory, and 30GB SSD for OS chores (along with a 1TB hard drive for storage duties).

The Warrior rig sells for $1,095 shipped, while the Chimera will set you back $1,470.

Interesting... I can't wait to see if this system will be as spectacular as the Core i7 980x system that was given away earlier.

Nice! To bad I had to go and waste 1400 on the 8800, I could have gotten one of these and put in the lower priced 4800 and had a faster system!

Thanks AMD!

The AMD hex-core black will not defeat the Core i7-980x in most performance tests,....but it is close to that level of performance and you can build an entire computer system based on the AMD hex-core black for under the price of the Intel i7-980X processor alone.

AMD's hex core CPU's deliver 'Bang For The Buck Power' for those of us who have to live a little less extravagantly.

Tom: that's the way of it with computer gear. It always seems to be half the price a few months down the line, but only after you buy it at full price. Or a new, 'twice as powerful at half the price' something comes out a week after you buy your something. Nowadays, I just expect it to happen.

Neil,

"Tom: that's the way of it with computer gear. It always seems to be half the price a few months down the line, but only after you buy it at full price. Or a new, 'twice as powerful at half the price' something comes out a week after you buy your something. Nowadays, I just expect it to happen."

Of course we all know that. I just don't like when they don't even announce any future releases. THEN...release a whole slew of new cards three weeks later at such a huge price difference without a huge difference in performance!

I put off the main upgrades in place of the workstation card. Hoping that it would remain viable at the top of the food chain for at least a year. Instead a month later they release one that is almost exactly the same with 120Stream Processors less(only viable if I was doing scientific modeling) for six hundred dollars less. I could have gotten the six core, RAM and a new motherboard! The whole upgrade! All I would have asked is that they actually announce it or at least tease us with the upcoming products. Like Nvidia and Apple, they tease you then make you starve for it before it is even close to being ready!

I was following their website almost every day when I was researching before the final buy, ...and nothing! We actually find out from Hot Hardware about these things before they had them on the website. If I were to return it I would have ended up losing 200 for restock fee. Hell the 200 dollar one they released would have been all I needed for the work that I have to finish. Then I could have loaded up on RAM and rendered supper fast, so I could have made more money and bought the 8850 when it came out.

The thing is their response to me was kinda like a big F-U! They basically said thank for supporting us and purchasing the 8800, we cant control our announcements? All I was asking them for was the knowledge, so that I could make an informed decision, that would have lasted for at least the six months that we expect of them. If I wanted to get raped I would have gone to the place where I know it would happen. Not the house that I felt comfortable in all these years.

They didnt even say..here ya go have a FirePro T-Shirt since you spent over 1400 that is unusable on your current system:P They basically said, Thanks D-Bag now go out and buy more!

Dude it's rip-off! You can just customize your own Gaming Rig! You save money and it's a smart purchase too.
