doubleTwist Media Software Comes To T-Mobile Android Phones

You've heard of DVD Jon, but have you heard of doubleTwist? The creator of the infamous FairPlay hacking scheme has a rather down-to-Earth media management application, and big time companies are finally coming around to it. Big companies such as T-Mobile.

The carrier briefly mentioned that the Fender Limited Edition myTouch 3G would utilize the software, which essentially acts as a music/photos/video management tool for your phone. But now, T-Mobile has confessed that even more Android phones will ship with the app pre-loaded. Basically, non-iPhone users had few options when it came to elegant media syncing applications given that iTunes will only work with Apple's phone. doubleTwist actually looks and feels a lot like iTunes, and it generally accomplishes the same tasks--but with Android phones (and any other device).

T-Mobile is making the software available for free to existing myTouch 3G users, along with owners of the Motorola CLIQ and Samsung Behold II. It's also available for both Mac and Windows platforms, so unless you're a diehard Linux user, you're okay on that front.

The software, available for Windows(R) and Mac platforms, automatically finds music, photos and videos stored on a user's computer and enables seamless syncing of their media to their mobile devices. doubleTwist includes step-by-step instructions for connecting and transferring DRM-free content to each supported device, making the process simple and accessible.

Users can create and sync new playlists or import their existing iTunes(R) playlists to start enjoying their music on a new device. doubleTwist also enables users to transfer videos and photos to and from smartphones and automatically converts video to ensure compatibility with each device, eliminating file format problems for consumers.

"doubleTwist is dedicated to providing consumers with a seamless digital media experience," said Monique Farantzos, CEO of doubleTwist Corp. "We are proud to partner with T-Mobile to offer a customized solution to their users and create a compelling entertainment experience."

Warren McNeel, T-Mobile USA's vice president of product development, said, "We know the ability to easily transfer media and music from a computer to a mobile device is a pain point for consumers, so we are pleased to work with doubleTwist on an easy solution."

Really cool app. One of the reasons why Apple products are so successful is that they're easy to use and work very well together. Having one program for your phone updates, syncing and purchasing media is unbeatable.

I would expect Zune to jump on this and integrate with doubleTwist as quickly as they can.

Yeah gibbersome that's one of the points I was trying to make in the why apples strategy could or does lead to innovation. The thing with Apple is that its users are generally accepting of what they do or offer. Now with the iphone they have definitely stepped out of there comfortability zone. That in many ways is the gist on there apps as well as this app. There app's are generally pretty seamless at least on the visibility end of things, and work well if not very well with there supported platform's. This app seems to do the same things with a much wider platform which is inherent to the PC side of things.
