It looks like Dell is announcing new updates to the XPS M1710 gaming notebook at Digital Life in NYC. The new XPS M1710 will feature the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics card, Intel's Core 2 Duo T7600G which gives customers the option of overclocking, Media Direct 3.0, LightFX technology, and a new silver keyboard with red backlights.

Dell enhanced the award-winning XPS M1710 mobile gaming system with innovative high-performance and entertainment technologies. For the first time, Dell is enabling enthusiasts to tune, or overclock, the system's new Intel Core 2 Duo T7600G mobile processor to operate at faster speeds for better performance. The latest NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX notebook GPU with 512MB memory delivers a 3-D gaming experience at high-definition resolutions. When playing supported music or games, users can also customize new Dell-exclusive XPS LightFX technology to strobe, pulse or fade the system's 16-color lights to the beat of a song or whenever a game character fires a weapon, moves or gets fragged. The XPS M1710 gaming notebook is available immediately worldwide starting at $2,299 with Core 2 Duo T7200 processor and 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS graphics, and $3,498 with Core 2 Duo T7600G processor and 512MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics. Additional features include:

  • XPS LightFX technology supported by WinAMP, WMP and iTunes music engines, and games including NCSoft's Auto Assault massively multiplayer online game.

The "instant office" capabilities of the new Dell MediaDirect technology enable customers to use their notebooks as mobile entertainment and productivity hubs around the home and office. Without having to start Windows, Dell MediaDirect now allows users to view Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and Outlook and Outlook Express contacts and calendars in addition to playing music, photos and videos stored nearly anywhere on the computer. The improved MediaDirect technology is available today on the XPS M1710 and in the coming weeks on other XPS mobile platforms and select Inspiron notebooks.
