Turtle Beach Reveals New Gaming Headsets For PC, PS3 And Xbox 360

CES just wouldn't be CES without a couple of new gaming accessories. Turtle Beach is here at the show to demonstrate their latest line of gaming headsets for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC with the flagship Force PX5 Programmable Wireless Surround Sound Headset taking the lead. There's also an Ear Force P11 Amplified Stereo Gaming Headset for PS3, and the XC1 XBOX LIVE Communicator Headset, but we'll focus on the first one...well, first!

The PX5 looks like just about every other gaming headset with a microphone at first, but it has a DSP inside of it and is capable of saving settings on itself. It's designed mostly for use with the PS3 and Xbox 360, with the programmable digital signal processor allowing independent customization of the chat, game, and microphone signals. Those custom settings are stored inside of it, and can be chosen during various parts of the game to emphasize sounds like footsteps or reloads that might otherwise be difficult to hear. It can even be programmed to disguise a gamer’s voice or to enhance the voices of online players to be heard when the game gets louder. We suspect the kids will really love that voice changing one.

These personalized presets will be possible with software available from the Turtle Beach web site that allows the user to adjust the settings on a PC and transfer them via a USB connection to the headset. Going on with its list of amenities, the PX5 also has dual radios: one for Dolby Digital surround sound and a second for chatting. The headset will go on sale this Spring for $249.95.

There's also the Ear Force P11, going for $59.95 this Spring, and the Ear Force XC1 will cater to bargain buyers when it ships in the Spring for $24.95. More details are below.

Elmsford, N.Y., January 4, 2011 – Turtle Beach, a leader in premium gaming headsets and audio entertainment accessories, announced today the latest innovations for 2011. The Ear Force PX5 Programmable Wireless Surround Sound Headset - the most technologically-advanced headset ever designed for PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 gaming, the Ear Force P11 Amplified Stereo Gaming Headset for PS3, and the XC1 XBOX LIVE Communicator Headset, will all debut during the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from January 6-9, 2011 at the Turtle Beach booth, South Hall 1 # 20428.

Ear Force PX5 Programmable Wireless Surround Sound Headset

The PX5 is the most technologically-advanced headset ever designed for PS3 and XBOX 360 gaming, incorporating a programmable digital signal processor to allow independent customization of the chat, game and microphone signals.  Custom settings stored in the headset as presets can be selected during specific parts of the game to emphasize sounds like footsteps or reloads that might otherwise be difficult to hear. It can even be programmed to disguise a gamer’s voice or to enhance the voices of online players to be heard when the game gets louder. These personalized presets will be possible with software available from the Turtle Beach web site that allows the user to adjust the settings on a PC and transfer them via a USB connection to the headset.

The PX5 is also the first headset to incorporate dual radios—one for immersive, Dolby Digital surround sound game audio and a second for chat on the PlayStation Network via Bluetooth. The Bluetooth feature also supports stereo audio streaming for listening to music while playing a game and can accept a phone call while wearing the headset.

“Turtle Beach has always been recognized for technological innovation. We pioneered the console gaming headset industry by launching the first stereo XBOX headset, were the first with wireless gaming headsets and the first with innovative features to enhance the gaming experience, like Chat Boost™. With the introduction of the programmable PX5, we’re poised to again revolutionize the gaming headset market.” says Carmine Bonanno, President and CEO. “By allowing gamers to customize their audio environment, the PX5 gives them an opportunity to take charge of their console gaming experience in ways that have never before been available.”

Better be pretty good for a 250 price tag. Thought the new g series headset was an expensive headset.

Nice looks, but the price for the px5... not for people like me xD

Might look at the p11 as im in need of a new headset.

I was beginning to look at the X41's for 145?

Don't know why they say they are for the 360? It has all the standard RCA connectors that you can use for a PC or a HT receiver. I haven't read about them not being able to be connected to anything other than the 360.

I love my current wireless headset, and they have lasted for a good three years of constant use. Yet now I am beginning to pick up some kind of rap broadcast, possibly from a neighbour :P But only when I lean back in the desk chair.

For a hundred dollars more, I don't see any advantage in these over the X41's? Either way just like the sennheisers, the main qualities are good sound and a light weight.
