TomTom Reveals Flagship Go x50 Series

TomTom announced its new flagship series, the TomTom GO x50. The series will feature three portable navigation devices, the TomTom GO 950, TomTom GO 750, and TomTom GO 550. The new PNDs are able to calculate a route faster than ever before, ensuring that drivers are ready to go in seconds.

The new TomTom GO x50 series uses “the world’s largest” collection of historical speed profiles that includes over 800 billion historic speed measurements of 15 million road kilometers in 24 European countries to help you find the best (and fastest!) route. While you’re driving, the device will check to see if there is a faster route by considering changing road conditions using IQ Routes technology and RDS-TMC traffic information.

One of the key new features found in the new TomTom GO x50 series is voice command and control. Commands that can be activated by voice include the ability to plan a route, change preferences, or make a call. Voice commands such as these let drivers keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel, adding to user safety. The TomTom GO x50 series also now has an enhanced speaker to help ensure clear voice instructions and hands-free calling.

To help you plan and navigate your journey, the TomTom GO x50 series comes with an Active Dock with integrated RDS-TMC Traffic information. RDS-TMC traffic information is currently available in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. RDS-TMC traffic information is also available in selected regions in the US, Canada, and Australia.

New menus found on the TomTom GO x50 series include a frequent destinations option as well as an Eco Routes option to help you conserve fuel whenever possible.

The TomTom GO 950 comes with pre-installed maps for door-to-door navigation in US, Canada, and 45 countries in Europe and offers Enhanced Positioning Technology (EPT) for uninterrupted navigation even when driving through tunnels. The TomTom GO 750 offer door-to-door navigation across 45 countries in Europe. Finally, the TomTom GO 550 features maps of a selected country or region in Europe.

All three new devices will be available this autumn. No pricing information is available at this time.
