Spam Turns 30: Booo, Hisssss

While we typically like to say happy birthday to just about anything technology related, this week we have a less than auspicious birthday to note: that of spam turning 30.

“The first known spam email was sent 30 years ago on Saturday.

But the message sent on May 3, 1978 by a marketer for the now defunct DEC computer company to around 400 people on the west coast of the United States wasn't called spam, and the sender dispatched it without ill intent.”

The date we really look forward to celebrating would be the date of the last spam message sent.  Let's hope that day comes sooner rather than later.

A day must come when it will be illegal to send any form of electronic solicitation. I eagerly await it.

Illegal mails and spam should be banned permanently!

To be fair Gmail's spam filter gets 99% of the spam. For me anyway but my email isn't publicly available unlike lets say the HH contact email address. Anti spam techniques are becoming very sophisticated. I know you can link to a site that generates an infinite amount of random email address so spam bots get spammed. Making their mailing lists inaccurate and inefficient to upload.

I have all mail go to the trash unless I specifically allow it.  If I find something that's important, I will allow it and take it out of trash.

Yahoo has the worst spam filter I have ever seen!Hotmail and Gmail are much better from this point of view
