Sony Refreshes Vaio S Series Laptops

While you were kicking back watching the New England Patriots thrash the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, Sony spent the weekend welcoming a pair of new laptops to its Vaio S line. New additions include the 15.5-inch Sony Vaio and the 13.3-inch Vaio SA, both of which start at just shy of a grand and sport most of the same hardware.

Regardless of which size you choose from, the $999 starting price for each gets you an Intel Core i5 2430M processor, 4GB of DDR3-1333 RAM, 500GB hard drive (5400 RPM), DVD burner, USB 3.0 connectivity, a pair of USB 2.0 ports, HDMI output, SD card slot, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Note that the 13.3-inch ships with an AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics processor and the 15.5-inch model includes a Radeon HD 6470M, both with support for Intel's Wireless Display Technology. Several upgrade options are available, including more RAM, bigger/faster storage devices, faster processor, and so forth.
